Gardenate suggests you plant Feb to April. Try planting it in August and it probably won't even germinate. Most plants have a defined time of the year to grow in a particular climate zone.

I live in the Coastal Overberg Region and planted my tomato seedlings in containers during March. They seem to be doing well at 50cm. Have I planted too late to enjoy more than one harvest?

Plant seeds Aug and transplant from Sept to Nov. If you planted indeterminate kinds of tomatoes they will crop over several months.

When you cut lettuce dry it out before putting in a bag and into the fridge. A spinning colander is best.
Potato 27 Apr, Shirley (South Africa - Humid sub-tropical climate)
When growing potatoes what fertilizer does one use
Potato 28 Apr, Anon (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate)
Just look for a general all round gardening fertiliser. If you look at all the fertilisers for different crops there is not a big difference in the NPK of them. Depending on your soil 8-12N, 3-6P, 3-6K. I read of fertilisers like 10, 10, 10, and 8, 8, 8. I don't know where you buy them (USA stores?).

HI Guys Need some help on my black beauty egg plant. I have planted my egg plant about three months ago and there is no fruit appearing. The leaves are turning yellow and also there is something eating up the leaves. Any help will be appreciated. I;m based in KZN Richards Bay. God BLESS
Eggplant (also Aubergine) 20 Apr, M (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate)
Check the planting guide - you may have planted too late. Find a spray for them, mix of molasses and water may do it. 1 tablespoon per litre water. Or find natural sprays on the internet. Leaves turning yellow could be deficiencies in nutrients in the soil. Read up on the internet.
