I'm in Adelaide S.A when is the best time to plant yams we don't get them here any where so I'm struggling to find information on what month is the best time to plant them I baught some on the internet and they have arrived and I'm storing them in the fridge but I have no other information Gardenate : see /www.gardenate.com/plant/Yam~Oka

You are temperate - in sub tropical it says plant Sept to Nov, try then.

Hi Ahmed, It depends on how much shade they get. I live in Johannesburg North and have successfully grown chillies in an area that gets around 3 hours of sun a day in summer (less in winter). Important is that they are in a sheltered location. I have successfully grown 3 chilli bushes - they are now 4 years old. The varieties I have were selected for their longevity (not annuals) and shade tolerance, and bought online from Livingseeds: 2 pepperdew types (Shan's sundew and Carl's sundew) as well as the West Park Birds Eye chilli. The West Park produces so prolifically that I get more chillies than leaves on the plant! You will need to do some pruning of the bushes in spring because they get more leggy than they would in full sun - cut back about 1/3 in early spring before any leaves appear. So unless you have total shade I recommend you give it a try.

Please advise where in Adelaide SA I can buy leaf mustard (aka mustard greens) seeds. Every time I think I’ve found somewhere the seeds turnout to be the variety that you cook with not the ones I want to plant in my garden. Thank you to anyone that can help me.

Buy on line from Diggers Club ~ BTW proper name 'Brassica Juncea' may help when searching. https://www.diggers.com.au/shop/vegetables/asian-greens/mustard-red-giant/s148/ Self seed readily, deep rooting, ornamental, bees love them.I mix the leaves in when cooking silverbeet, spinach, any of the 'wild greens' mixes I pick. Fab on going addition to the garden.

Try your local Chinese/ Asian food shops. I buy all of my Asian Greens seeds from there and they are super cheap.

I just had a look at my favourite seed supplier. They do have a table green mustard list of plants, but there is also this one under the Green manure section that is also mustard greens mix. First ;( just so everyone understands) - Sweet peas are not edible. They also like cool weather , so Nth Queensland is probably not suitable.

I am growing my rhubarb in a tub.The plant grows 3 slim stalks .One stalk dies then another grows.lt keeps repeating this pattern.So into able to use in cooking I keep the plant in semi shade as the sun was too harsh in good topsoil Can you help please

Also rhubarb is a heavy feeder and evolved in cooler temperate climates. It does not like its roots to get hot and being in a tub in a hot climate might be impairing irs growth

Rhubarb needs full sun and tolerates light shade. As I have outside garden beds I don't do pots. Pots need a lot more attention to soil requirements and watering. In most cases plants will survive in hot weather if watered regularly and if need be some shade. You say in a tub, does it have enough drainage.

If you set your climate to summer rainfall and look in tomatoes, it is right in front of you, plant SEPT TO MARCH.
