  • S = Plant undercover in seed trays
  • T = Plant out (transplant) seedlings
  • Grow in seed trays, and plant out in 4-6 weeks. Sow seed at a depth approximately three times the diameter of the seed. Best planted at soil temperatures between 16°C and 35°C. (Show °F/in)
  • Space plants: 40 - 60 cm apart
  • Harvest in 8-17 weeks.
  • Compatible with (can grow beside): Asparagus, Chervil,Carrot, Celery, Chives, Parsley, Marigold, Basil
  • Avoid growing close to: Rosemary, Potatoes, Fennel, Cucumber

My second batch of heirloom tomatoes are ready to be transplanted. I bought the seeds over the internet on "Bid or Buy". I planted individual seeds in mini-containers and have had a 100% success rate.

I'm also in East Central Florida, zone 10a! I've been here for 4 years and have grown tomatoes successfully in fabric containers. They need a lot of water as the heat will dry them out very quickly. Also be on the lookout for leaf footed bugs. They're easy to control but prolific. Wash off the nymphs (they huddle together on or near the fruits) and flick the adults into a container of soapy water. For feeding, I agree they won't need much for a while. When they do, what about liquid kelp?
