I hill the soil up around the plant when they are about 30-40cm high. This gives them soil for the roots to grow in. I also run a little fertiliser beside the plant before hilling up.

Sweetcorn does look as though the roots are showing as it grows taller. They help to support the plant and are quite normal.

Our corn has grown well but on opening it to check there were caterpillars eating it. What is the best way to control these?

If they don't eat much just cut the damaged section off. That is what I do. Caused by the heliothis moth. Look on the internet for a spray.

I’ve always though corn was super hardy. My plants are about 3 weeks old, decent size and some little green caterpillars (about 1cm long) smashing it. Please help, what can I do? Natural solution?
