Hi my name is Caroline and I’m not from New Zealand, but I love pumpkins! I REALLY REALLY have the urge to carve a pumpkin but unfortunately they are all out of season in America. This might sound stupid but are pumpkins on the same schedule in New Zealand bc of the difference in climate? Like would I be able to get one shipped ?

I was hoping to plant some pumpkins, but I am worried they won't grow very well since it is almost the middle of July. Can I still plant some in my garden? I live in a very warm climate too.

I think you should still get decent pumpkins in zone 8. Because it's so hot right now they should grow quickly, much more quickly than if you'd planted earlier. Make sure they have plenty of water, though, and mulch them so they don't fry. Good luck!

I read that they can have trouble pollinating without a little help, though I haven't started growing mine yet.

If you don't have active bees when they flower then you can hand pollinate. A female flower is only open for a few hours one day, if not pollinated then no pumpkin grows. Google how to do it.

Because of the heat in zone 9a. Plants have difficulty pollinating when temperatures are 90 degrees or higher. In Southern Nevada temps got to 120 degrees. I plant seeds especially seedlings once temps are below 90 degrees. When temps are high I use Blossom Set to help the fruit to set on

Hi is sept with warm temps too late to plant pumpkins?
13 Sep 22, Anonymous (USA - Zone 8b climate)
It is about 4 months too late by the guide here. It is not the temps now but what they will be in 4-5months time when the pumpkin are suppose to mature.

My pumpkins plants get big beautiful blooms, only to fall off. Is this bloom blithe, or a pollination problem etc.? ,
