Ginger 01 Apr, Chris (USA - Zone 6b climate)
You can plant grocery store ginger. Look for as many "fingers" or bumps as possible as that is growth points on the root. Ginger enjoys well drained nutrient rich soil that dries between waterings. Grown in a pot by a window it will do very well.
Radish 26 Jan, Joyce (USA - Zone 7b climate)
Does 1 seed produce 1 radish? Or does it grow in a bush? Only 1 person will be eating them and I don't want to grow too many.
Radish 27 Jan, Maria (Australia - temperate climate)
1 seed produces 1 radish. We had lots of varieties last season.
Peas 17 Feb, sandra mccormick (USA - Zone 7b climate)
can these green peas be planted (seeds) in maybe 6" deep maybe foot and 1/2 long pots outside?
Peas 01 Mar, GJX (USA - Zone 6a climate)
Yes it is possible, but you will need to water regular, and you will need to build a trellis. Also you will need liquid fertilizer, or I should say you should, if you want nice peas.

Yam/Oca (also Oka) 09 Mar, Jane (USA - Zone 6a climate)
I am thinking to grow small amount of oca this year. Is there anyone can tell me where I can get some seeds or tuber to try? Thank you so much!
Yam/Oca (also Oka) 13 Mar, Bill W. (USA - Zone 8b climate)
Jane: You can buy oca in the USA at www.cultivariable.com. Delia: Okra, the edible pod, is Abelmoschus esculentus. Oca, a tuber, is Oxalis tuberosa. In Australia, you might be more familiar with it under the name "New Zealand Yam".

Strawberries (from seeds) 13 Apr, Ryan Scott (USA - Zone 12a climate)
Hi, I live in Fiji, am about to do some outdoor (full sun area) aquaponics trials with flood and drain tables. Thinking of strawberry instead of tomato etc. which variety of strawberry would suit here? Any tips on nutrient levels? I have all the testers, and am using taliapia for the water nutrients. Any tips you have for me? Thank you for your help. Ryan

Leeks 12 Jun, (USA - Zone 8a climate)
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO 'BLANCH' THE STEM OR PLANT?
Leeks 13 Jun, Andrew (Australia - temperate climate)
It means to exclude light from the stem. That is what creates the white, tightly packed section of the leek, which is the bit we like to cook with. There are two main ways to achieve this: 1. As the plant grows, pack soil around the stem; or 2. Plant seeds or seedlings in a trench (about 10cm deep) and as the plant grows fill in the trench. Hope this helps.
Asparagus Pea (also Winged bean) 27 Jun, Ennie McCurdy (USA - Zone 10a climate)
I just got my Wing Beans from Amazon.com that I ordered. I live in Texas and it is almost the end of June here. When can I plant these beans or is it too late to plant them now. Would appreciate your response. Thanks.
Garlic 07 Jul, Julie Carville (USA - Zone 7a climate)
I bought mild garlic, but it is hot and wasn't supposed to be. Is this because I didn't water it steadily or enough, the soil, or some other reason that non-not garlic is hot (taste wise) when I harvest it.
Lettuce 12 Jul, sherron hardin (USA - Zone 5a climate)
I planted within the time frame as your chat suggested. My lettuce has gotten bitter as it has grown. I have it in full sun. I don't know if that is the reason but it would seem on the second growing it became a little bitter and gets worse as it grows. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help
Rosemary 12 Jul, sherron hardin (USA - Zone 5a climate)
I saw where you can make a hedge out of Rosemary. Would this be a good suggestion? I have several plants I started from seed because I would like organic herbs. I plant on planting it in my garden as an entrance hedge. Need to know if I am heading in the right direction with this herb. We have four seasons here. Trying to make long lasting decisions. Thanks
Burdock (also Gobo (Japanese Burdock)) 19 Jul, Lauren (USA - Zone 8b climate)
I just harvested and ate the burdock ( gobo) I planted earlier this year. I'd like to plant more seeds. Any advice? Do I need to wait for the temperature to cool down a bit? In case you are wondering, all of it ended up as kinpira. It was devoured immediately. It was far too yummy.
