Tomatillo 17 Aug, Marie (USA - Zone 8a climate): Tomatillos have done well here in Texas, which is extremely hot and dry. I grow them in the summer, and they seem to do well in temperatures over 39 degrees Celsius. Humidity does not bother them, but pruning lower branches helps prevent rot.

Tomatillo 04 Sep, S.R. Weeks (USA - Zone 10a climate): I had a volunteer (a.k.a. "weed") tomatillo-like plant sprout up in my garden. It has grown to be approximately 3 ft. high, same foliage as shown above & has pointed lantern shaped papery outer coverings around a small green tomato-like fruits. Is this edible? Would the Cape Gooseberries be edible?

Lettuce 03 Jan, Keren (USA - Zone 7b climate): Lettuce gets bitter if it's too hot and/or when it bolts. Lettuce is ideal is cool temps, and if grown in hot weather does better in the shade or at least partial shade. Full sun in cool weather is fine. Also, too little water causes butter lettuce. Make sure you are either harvesting the plant all at once, or you pick he outer leaves on a consistent schedule. Picking leaves inconsistently can also cause lettuce to bolt.

Onion 28 Nov, Sandra Garcia (USA - Zone 10b climate): Try Baker Creek; I get all my seeds there, I also use Trade Winds Fruit, Baker Creek has videos and they tell you the temperature that the plant can grow in, but you need to research each seed type to see what weather it grows well in. Read the reviews for the plants to see what others say about it. You can definitely grow everything all year round! Good luck

Radish 13 Mar, Kristin Litwiler (USA - Zone 5a climate): What is the best region of the US to grow radishes? What region is Arkansas in? I haven't been able to find that on the Web nor a picture of the US divided into its' regions as I've seen on seeds pack backs.

Radish 02 Apr, Costa (USA - Zone 9b climate): The greens of radishes are also edible. Eat raw when the leaves are small and tender. More mature greens before turning woody or the stem becoming hard and dark or before leaves start turning yellow can be steamed or boiled....A little lemon, salt, olive oil and you have some great tasting and healthy greens.Great over a bed of rice. Also good for juicing.

Tomato 27 Jun, Econ (USA - Zone 7b climate): I planted a tumbling Tom from nursery in mid April and it is doing great. If I had to do over I would have bought 5 or 6. I planted about 8 different tomatoe plants with 7 of them indertiminate. So far the best are Lemon Boy. They melt in your mouth!

Choko/Chayote (also Chayote squash, christophene, chouchou, mirliton) 25 Nov, Melinda (USA - Zone 8a climate): Plant the whole fruit in a place where a massive amount of leafy vines can trellis up and over (we plant this in May here)... even a bottomless 18" deep drum full of compost/well drained rich soil will work quite well but definitely plant it once and let it go. It harvests here quite heavily right at fall and puts on massive leafy vines with MANY fruit from only one single squash planted. It is quite nice to have for a summer tasting versatile squash that is a heavy producer in the fall after zucchini and yellow crookneck are long gone from squash bug damage.

Luffa (also Loofah, plant sponge) 11 Nov, Donna (USA - Zone 8b climate): I'm in Port Angeles at 1,000 ft. I planted two Luffas (seed) in May. Only 1 produced fruit, and it only got about 7-8" long (3" in diameter). Are there any charts for altitude?
